Bio
Ahmad Shakaff Bin Ali Yeon is an accomplished researcher with extensive experience in
Robotics, Chemical Sensing and Artificial Intelligence. He completed his undergraduate degree in
Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nagoya University, Japan, graduating with honors in
2014. He subsequently went on to pursue graduate studies at Universiti Malaysia Perlis
(UniMAP), earning a M.Sc in Computer Engineering in 2017 and finally a Ph.D in Mechatronic
Engineering in 2023.
Throughout his academic career, Ahmad Shakaff has focused his research on robotics, chemical
sensing and artificial intelligence, publishing in several academic journals and proceedings. As
a student and researcher, he has led workshops and training in programming and embedded
devices at UniMAP and other institutions. Ahmad Shakaff is a firm believer in the importance of
collaboration between academia and industry to leverage their respective strengths and expertise
to drive innovation and progress. His collaborations with industry partners such as Selangor
Industrial Corporation, Edgenta Mediserve and Institut Sukan Negara have also allowed him to
contribute to the development of solutions that address real-world challenges faced by the
industry in Smart City and Smart Health applications. To further enhance the impact of
academiaindustrial collaboration, he has joined a startup company, IDERIA Sdn. Bhd as a cloud
systems architect and software developer in 2018 before continuing as a consultant since 2023.
